On the morning of March 12, 2026, Shandong Xiehe University (SXU) and KIU, Sri Lanka held an online cooperation signing ceremony. Representatives from both institutions gathered across the oceans to witness this important moment. Dr. Sajeewanie Liyana-arachchi, Vice Chancellor of KIU; Dr. Indrapala Chandrasekaram, Chief Medical Officer of the Acupuncture Clinic and Training Center; and Ms. Nadeeka Ranadeva, Dean of the Faculty of Health Science, along with other relevant leaders, attended the meeting. SXU was represented by Vice President Xu Huiji, Director Zhou Guangtao and Deputy Director Niu Yue from the Inter Office, as well as other members of the office.

      At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Sajeewanie Liyana-arachchi, Vice Chancellor of KIU, delivered the first speech, introducing the university’s characteristics and development vision, and expressing sincere willingness to engage in in-depth cooperation with SXU in fields such as health sciences and traditional medicine. Subsequently, Vice President Xu Huiji of SXU spoke, briefly introducing the university’s development history and achievements in internationalization, and expressing the hope that this signing would serve as a starting point for practical cooperation in areas such as student and faculty exchanges, as well as academic research.

      Witnessed by representatives from both sides, Vice President Xu Huiji and Dr. Sajeewanie Liyana-arachchi, Vice Chancellor of KIU signed the framework cooperation agreement online. Following the signing ceremony, the representatives took a group photo online to commemorate this friendly cooperation and had a brief exchange on future collaboration directions.

      The successful holding of this signing ceremony marks the official establishment of a partnership between SXU and KIU, Sri Lanka. As another important achievement in deepening cooperation between our university and institutions in South Asian countries, this signing will further promote educational exchanges and people-to-people connections with countries along the Belt and Road, injecting new momentum into cultivating high-quality talents with a global perspective.
